Grow Community Gardens

So 2016 has started – not so much with a bang but in a bit of a damp, warm, windy kind of a way. But as anyone who’s involved with us knows, we don’t let that stop us at Grow – we plough on – (I’ll will try to minimise the gardening puns) and enjoy whatever comes our way!

I’ve had a sneak preview of the draft programme for our three sites for 2016 and…..

It’s looking good!  Craig Sands (our Development Worker) is putting the finishing touches to a really interesting programme for the season ahead.

For those of you not yet involved with Grow – at the end of the season the participants, volunteers and staff get together and chat about;

    • What worked well
    • What didn’t work so well or people didn’t enjoy so much
    • What we would like more of, less of and anything new we would like to see as part of our sessions this year.

It’s the diversity of what we do that I really love;  from planting seeds, to making elderflower champagne to yoga and creating gorgeous food and eating together. Putting the world to rights over tea and cake also features large.

Craig kicked us off in style on Sunday 10th January at the Waterworks Community Garden with a Green Woodworking Workshop – WOW!

Who’d have thought so many people would come out on a such a cold January morning.  But sure that’s what it’s all about; a place to be ourselves, connect with each other and work to make this lovely part of Belfast we live in a more welcoming, connected shared space. Oh and not to forget Marnie’s lemon drizzle cake and all the chat!

Health, Joy and love for 2016 Grow Friends.
